I totally lost track of time. It's 46 minutes into November and I have the ghost of a plan for my novel. D;
Anyone else doing it? I remember a few others were... if you aren't, consider! It's a really neat project.

I just looked it up and it looks kind of fun!

I am planning on doing it... and shit, it's almost 3 hours into November and I only barely have an idea. Certainly not 1666 words worth of an idea, though... which sucks. Although I suppose that if I can write a 1k word blog post, I can write 1666 words on what I have so far :/
I'm just hoping that once I start, I'll have more ideas.

So you write a novel of 50k words plus from the 1st-30th about whatever you want? Sounds pretty interesting. I may give it a shot.
What are you guys writing about?

Well I thought about redoing one of my old short stories and expanding it greatly, but then I realized that they werent all that great and more of a thing for my friends.
So then I remembered this RP I tried starting back in 04 on the Tales forums and decided to combine that with one of my stories Im currently writing thats basically a Bioshock prequel. So itll have some elements of Bioshock and then the rest of what I had going on, tweaked of course because that was a long time ago and the idea is pretty terrible lol
Thats my current thought XD

Mine going to take place in a universe where people have abilities. A girl goes back in time to the point where her father was her age to prevent him from becoming evil. (because in the future, he's a pretty prominent villain and of course she doesn't want to just kill him or put him in jail, cuz he's her father!)
That's pretty much what I got so far. And I know generally how I want it to start. I just don't know if this story can go for 50k words, is all...

That sounds pretty interesting Turk. So is the bulk of it going to take place in the past or is that only going to be for a brief bit?

The beginning bit is going to take place the day she landed in the present, but then there's a time skip to two years later, when she starts high school. By this point in time, she's been taken in by a foster family (of people who also have powers), although she hasn't told them about the whole preventing-her-father-from-becoming-evil thing. Also she's a technopath, which poses problems since she only knows about technology from her time. So present-day cellphones, TVs, etc... she needs to do lots of research. She can only control whatever hasn't changed in 20 years.
What I'm really not sure of is towards the end... how exactly she would make him not be evil. Should she reveal to him that she's his daughter from the future? What would happen after she changes whatever she needs to change? Would she just disappear since that version of her wouldn't exist anymore, or would she need to return to her time?

I don't know if I should start (I most certainly can just work on something all year long...!) since school's a biatch ALL THE TIME.
But, if I did start writing, I'll likely write about Gene and Davenport City. I really, really, really want to start something off with some sort of over-enthusiastic apartment-wide weather announcement.
"Good Morning residents of Davenport City Condominiums!!! Today, you are greeted by super-sunbeams and cloud-free skies, all day long! Today's highs are super-nice at 70 degrees with lows in the mid-60s! Make sure you wear plenty of sunscreen so you don't get sunburned, and have a fantaaaas-tic day!"
Yes, this place is as messed up (before the Splicer infestation) as it sounds. It's a lovely little port city, with lovely weather, a sea breeze, good schools, and an excellent Science District! Citizens keep safe with a citywide Civil Defense system, whose patrolmen and women are connected with the Fire Department, Police Department, and City Hospital. So, basically if something bad happens (including natural disasters and cats stuck in trees), your local Civil Defense guy is a one-stop walking 911 person. You don't have to call 911, you can just walk up to one of them and, explain what's wrong, and they'll send the proper authorities to help you, or just give you directions if you're lost.
I actually quite love this little "utopian" and safe city Gene originates from. If only because it becomes severely messed up after the fact, and weather report system is from then on always wrong, still abhorrently cheerful, and likely to announce the 5 different weather situations a day whether it's talking about morning's weather, evening's weather, or flash flood warnings.
YES. SUPER-PEPPY FLASH FLOOD WARNINGS.
"Make sure to put on your life jackets, citizens!"

9359 words... I'M SO BEHIND But I don't really care... at 19 pages it's already longer than anything I've ever written. PS: I'm posting my story on my LJ, for anyone who wants to read it and give advice, criticism, or just tell me what you think. turkoizdog.livejournal.com/tag/nanowrimo

WOW!
I haven't started... mainly because I never thought of an idea.
But I don't think it's going to happen... Still, that's a lot of words! I don't think my 20 page thing has that many words in it... what size font are you using?
