Alright, got some breathing space. Here's my bio.
Name:Ryosuke Takahara, nickname "Ross" Age:35 Height:5'11" Country of Origin: Japan, moved to US before going to Rapture Occupation:Inventor, mechanical engineer
History:Ryosuke was recognized to be a special talent from a young age. Rather than go out and play with the other boys his age, he would spend most of his time in his home taking apart radio sets. He excelled in his studies, and after graduating with honors from high school, was sent to America to further his studies. He attended UCLA and made great strides in the robotics and mechanical engineering programs. It seemed that Ryosuke had a bright future ahead of him.
Then came the day of December 7, 1941, a day... that will live... in infamy. Many Japanese citizens were moved to internment camps. Ryosuke was taken far from his home and his research and was relocated to Rohwer, Arkansas. He was outraged by the treatment, and wallowed in lethargy in the camp, his creative energies pent up and finding no outlet. He spent his years studying as much as he could, developing blueprints for fantastic robots and devices that he could not possibly assemble with the limited materials at hand.
When the war finally ended, Ryosuke was left disillusioned, seeing America for what it truly was, a festering pit of ancient prejudices and fear of the strange and unknown. He longed for an escape; what he found was Rapture.
A few months after being released from the internment camp, Ryosuke was left jobless and homeless. He sent many letters to large industrial corporations, begging them to just glance at his work and his designs and give him a chance, but they all turned him down, saying that he was deluded, that there was no way they would hire a Jap to work for them. He was on the brink of despair when he was approached by a man, an agent of Andrew Ryan, who told him that Ryan was interested in him and his work and would like to speak to him.
He met with Ryan and found a man who was also disillusioned to the glittering facade that was America, a man who was unafraid to take bold risks and embrace new ideas. Ryan offered him a place in Rapture, and he eagerly agreed. Now he could finally see his creations, what were before merely graphite on paper, become reality. His inventions would be realized: his ground-breaking security cameras and sentry drones, automated defense turrets...
Personality:Ryosuke is a man driven by innovation and invention. He loves to create new machines and devices, simply for the sake of creating them. Though amiable at times, when he is taken by some new idea, he is consumed by it until he can put it to paper, becoming rather short-tempered and irritable. His experiences during and after World War II have left him a cynical man, given to sarcasm and black humor, though underneath it all, there must be some shred remaining of the bright young man with a positive outlook on the world. One would be hard-pressed to find it though.
Reasons for going to Rapture:Freedom from discrimination and the freedom to create and invent whatever he wanted.

O:
Maybe an incredibly skilled dancer who was only able to get a job at a strip joint... and then she was invited to join rapture...
Kinda strange though that she can't get hired if she's such an amazing dancer...

But would Ryan really let a prostitute into Rapture? "What's that you say? You have mastered the Kama Sutra and possess the best handjob technique known to man? You, my good woman, are an elite prostitute, and as such are welcomed to Rapture!"
After all, even elitists need their booty...

XD
I GUESS THAT WOULD BE A LITTLE ODD...
I loved that haha.
But isn't true that he wants people to be in an environment where there are not moral limitations?
I don't really care about prostitution lol. I just have no idea where to start making a character.

Like your character, Dan. Especially the history. UCLA, hmm? lol "What's that you say? You have mastered the Kama Sutra and possess the best handjob technique known to man? You, my good woman, are an elite prostitute, and as such are welcomed to Rapture!" Ahaha well a Andrew Ryan did have multiple mistresses... I wouldn't be surprised if he did consider those the traits of a "good woman". *rolls eyes* And I'm gonna stop there before I start femi-ranting. Well maybe she invented pole dancing or something? xD It's not just scientific geniuses, but artistic geniuses as well who are invited to Rapture... People who are that plus maybe a little bit mad (or have the potential to become mad)

But would Ryan really let a prostitute into Rapture? Siren Alley, due to be introduced in Bioshock 2, was Rapture's Red Light Disctrict... Great character Dan, love the way you captured the events of the time.

But doesn't Bioshock 2 take place much later? People who came there originally would have to have been chosen by Ryan, but in years following, there would be people who were born and raised there... As of Bioshock 2, Rapture has been open for what, 25 years?

Siren Alley was opened prior to the events of the Civil War. Its was where construction workers and architects would show their skills, but after the Civil War began it became the Red Light District.
Perhaps Dels character is the one who actually started the prostitution ring?

O:
Maybe! An old pimp or mistress!
Or a prostitute in the ring...
but possibly.

Show their skills indeed... *sniggers* Okay okay, enough of my immaturity. Well you'd have to convince Ryan that it would be best for Rapture. Then again, don't think that'd be too hard... again, multiple mistresses... "Hey Ryan, know what Rapture needs? Whores." "Hell yes it needs whores! " Okay maybe not quite like that.... close enough, haha
