So I just wiped my Ipod and put the all the Final Fantasy XI, Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy X Piano Collection, Final Fantasy X-2, Final Fantasy X-2 Piano Collection, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, and Dissidia: Final Fantasy soundtracks on my Ipod. They're taking up like.... 70 percent of my crappy 2gb Ipod LMAO. Anyway, I was listening to the music while taking a two hour long walk [don't ask me why it was so long. I guess I just got into the music and didn't feel like stopping lol], and I realized how amazing the music is in this series. Like... it's great! Anyway, I just thought we could discuss the music in video game in this thread. Here's some Final Fantasy songs I fell in love with today [unfortunately, I don't pay much attention to the music while I'm playing the games. A lot of this is was like 'Damn, I never realized how fucking amazing this song is!']. So we basically have all the same favorites because I love all of those songs XD Then again, it's not like there's a final fantasy song I don't like haha.
And to correct a statement from earlier. I found a lot of new songs that I absolutely love lol. This isn't the first time I've heard a lot of these songs. It's like... some of the background music that I didn't pay attention to that I discovered.
And I especially love Divinity I and II in Advent Children. I don't even remember those being in the movie. If you haven't heard those two, Lily, then I suggest you listen to them NAO. It gave me shivers!

Hmm... the topic says "Music in video games" but so far it's just an orgasm-fest of FF music. Then again, FF does rule the world of video game music. I dunno, I just have a thing for epic orchestral pieces and Latin choirs. Some close runners-up in my opinion would be Ar Tonelico 2 and... Persona 3!!!! Loved that game. I should go and make a topic for it. *Runs off to do just that* Oh, and here's an example of Ar Tonelico's music, just to give you a taste. They made a totally friggin new language in that game, and sing in it! How awesome is that?!?! www.youtube.com/watch?v=MN2XtskNiuAOh, and random Latin music, because I love it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=RaV6eDvgiG4

I saw the words "music" and "video games" in the same title and thought: Anamanaguchi! I don't care that this is actually just a band that uses a video game system (NES) to make music. Technically, this is music that's in a video game, since it's in Audiosurf (but going by that logic, Carry on my wayward son is just as much 'music in a video game' but whatevs) Fast Turtle (my car's namesake, lol) www.youtube.com/watch?v=vDpdXQ9VTeoHelix Nebula (this one's just the album cover) www.youtube.com/watch?v=DHmYC8a_4cI&feature=relatedBitpop ftw? I don't pay much attention to music in video games, honestly. It's like, the one time I DON'T pay attention to music and pay attention more to what I'm doing. Probably cuz the games I usually play are like... Battlefield Bad Company and such... (alright bad example, BFBC has some pretty cool stuff) so no pretty Final-Fantasy-esque pieces and nothing that makes me want to reach for my piano and try it out...

FINAL FANTASY + PIANO = PURE LOVE.
How long have you been playing piano, Turkoiz?

Herm, 11 or 12 years? I'm not as good as the average person who has been playing this long though, and I stopped taking lessons due to college. Luckily, there's a piano in the fireside lounge. I intend to make full use of it tomorrow, as I managed to grab my sheet music when I visited home this weekend.

I wish I played the piano. It would help a lot with my singing. I'm happy that I've at least begun with Ballet. Maybe I'll begin taking piano lessons next.

I played for a while, got bored of it and quit. That was ages ago. Now, I want to take it up again just to play all the video game and anime music. I guess all that was needed was proper motivation, eh?

Tee hee, them ivories be ticklish, yo. (wtf 12-at-night sentence structure?) And Del, never too late to start. Danime: how long did you play? If you can read music, you could probably just find the sheet music for whatever songs and teach yourself... if not well, you may wanna start there, lol. And it's amazing what proper motivation can do. I actually enjoyed learning music because my teacher let me pick out music I wanted to learn, and based on that picked pieces she thought I'd like. From Tarzan and Fur Elise when I was a kid to stuff like Alicia Keys, Coldplay, Mae, Debussy, Joplin... hell, I have the sheet music for Bohemian Rhapsody, even though I haven't played it in a while. And I unfortunately did not get a chance to tickle any ivories today. But tomorrow! Or, well, technically today. Meaning in that (^) sentence, by today I meant yesterday.

Played for six years, so yeah I know how to read music, though a bit rusty at it. So yeah, if I could get my hands on a piano or keyboard, I could just teach myself.

Chances are you'll find one around campus, in one of the lounges, the music center... at least 2 or 3 of the dining halls at UCSC have one too... Plus the library has a full length keyboard (<333 because keyboards that aren't full length suck and you can't play fun songs on them) in the media center downstairs.
And you could probably find and print the sheet music online. I got Viva La Vida by Coldplay and Dark Blue by Jack's Mannequin from tthayer2 on Youtube (who also does a bunch of theme songs but I dunno if he does anime (he did FMA but not sure if he did others) or video game music (other than Mario and Zelda) but he's certainly not the only person who posts videos with sheet music links online. I found We're So Far Away by Mae from a girl whose username I can't remember.
