I cannot tell you how terribly excited I am for this game. I know it's received a lot of flak from people, but I really can't help but love it. First, the music and graphics are amazing. The battle theme is pretty bitchin' - Battle ThemeSecond, I'm excited that the Final Fantasy series is introducing a female lead in their hero line up. I know about Terra, but the hero from VI isn't super defined. I know it's wrong to favor the game just because it has a female lead, but I DO WHAT I WANT, SON. And yet it is not just because she is a woman, it is because she isn't a USELESS woman! I'm just... so happy. Here's an awesome preview: Awesome OpossumLightning appears to have a high level of bad ass.

VERSUS HAS A CRYSTAL MAFIA. VERSUUUUUUUUUUUUUSSSSSS.
BTW, although she wasn't exactly a protagonist, there was a badass chick in FFV, too... It's a semi-spoiler if I point her out, though. Also, I love Terra~
And I think, if it weren't for Vaan, Asche might as well have been the protagonist of FFXII. Vaan and Penelo were added later in development.
And... I dunno about XIII My friend's getting the game, so I'll see what she thinks, and maybe borrow it, too.
Then again, WHEN I get a PS3, I might be too busy with Demon's Souls to notice. I'll need a PS3 for Versus~
EDIT: I may be biased for VI because it has Kefka. KEFKAAAAAAA. I admit to preferring Lightning's original character design (from the ooold promos) as opposed to her current one. Her hair was redder.
It just felt like to me like they were playing her up more as a GIRL (LOOK HERE, IT'S A GIRL), when before I was excited because that didn't feel like that was what was happening. You can check the FF wikia, she has had her changes.
And I do find the new Cid to be quite a nice change.

Faris! I love her tooooo!
And I do love me some Terra.
And I will look up this original look for Lightning. I didn't get the 'look at her, it's a girl' vibe, but I suppose it's possible... I was pretty excited that it was a girl, so maybe that feeling comes from fanboys like me geeking out whenever possible LMAO!!!

"An odd fact is that Lightning is quite tall compared to other female characters in the series. She is 5'10", while others like Aerith Gainsborough and Yuna are 5'3" or so in height. She is even taller than other main characters, most notably Squall Leonhart and Cloud Strife, who both stand at 5'8". Although it should be noted that, while Cloud is the same age as Lightning, Squall is four years younger at the time of measurement."
I thought this was funneh xD
Anyway, I see what you mean by her original design! She looked tougher! I'm not a fan of the pink hair myself, but I'm nnnnnoot complaining.

It's more of a dusty rose color, I think.
BUT
I am just as titillated by this game as you, Sven. <3
I can't wait to know EVERYTHING...and I have a big lesbian crush on Jihl.
XD
GIVE ME A WORD, SVEN. GIVE ME A SOFT WORD...about FFXIII!

This game looks alright...I still don't want to get my hopes up. Mainly because I'm still recovering from the crushing disappointment of FFXII. x.x At the same time, though...I still want to believe that Square hasn't gone down the drain--I WANT TO HAVE HOPE, DAMMIT.

You must be joking.

FFXII, a disappointment? You must be joking. I am not. As a regular RPG, it's just fine. But as a Final Fantasy? ...Sorry, it just doesn't add up to the greatness of the previous titles. Of course, this is only one girl's opinion. ^.^"

LILY: I AM HAPPY TO HAVE FOUND AN ALLY!
I am just so... soooooo excited by this prospect!
And I also have a lesbian crush on Jihl... Lightning as well!!! AND FANG EVEN!!!
So many women to have girl-crushes on...
The music is pretty good! There have been better FF scores, but you should check it out!
A soft word, you ask? What about r a d i a n t...?
Lenne: Ah, I can appreciate skepticism!
I did like XII, but I was disappointed with the character development of most of the cast. They really only did Ashe justice in my eyes, and I think she SHOULD have been the main character.
While I loved to look at Vaan, he failed in my eyes as a lead.
They could have done SO much more in XII... SO MUCH!
Still, I did enjoy it...

I must agree with Lenne. XII's main character did not seem like the main character. The story did not focus on him at all, and it's some other character that gets the girl.
As for XIII... as a game, it's probably great, what with cutting-edge graphics and all. But they focused too much on graphics and not enough on that immersive gameplay that defines the Final Fantasy series. The labyrinth of choices, optional routes, and side quests has been dumbed down to what one person who played the game dubbed "a concrete tunnel." I mean, the sales price in Japan has dropped from $90 to $40 in its first month of release. I hope to God that something can be salvaged from the sequel, but I'm not feeling to confident in this.

The main character of XII is, according to some, actually supposed to be Ashe. Which actually makes a fair amount of sense.
Also, Balthier is cool. :D
Sadly, while the game was filled with tons of stuff I would like, I didn't get sucked into it. Maybe it was Vaan's fault. BTW, hearing the Final Fantasy theme at the "press start" screen made me cry.
...I love that theme. To death.
Out of the games I'm after these days, Vagrant Story is among them... and I must say, I like political intrigue in games. This would probably explain why I love British history. I was hoping for a heavy wallop of the stuff, but clearly the game kind of... Well, it didn't deliver when I would have liked it to. :(

Well, just about every other game out there, the main character gets the girl, so there's not much to complain about.
And I don't like the term 'gets the girl' either. I'm pretty much a feminist LMAO.
But that is a discussion we do not need to start here.
And as for XIII, maybe it will suck, but you can't really say it doesn't immerse the player until you've played it.

So, if Princess Ashe was the main character as originally intended... It would be pretty darn weird having her "get the guy", especially considering she WAS married in the intro... and then her husband died. :/
Awwwwkward.
