Figured we should have a thread about this BAD ASS series.
I'm only on the first book, but I'm definitely liking it so far... even if some things are a bit... unbelievable.
Not necessarily the fantasy setting or the world, I'm good with all of that. I'm just finding Doris Lang to be a bit... too much of a good thing lol.
Like how can someone be divinely beautiful, a super-skilled fighter (as far as normal humans go, at least), AND still retain 'feminine frailty'? It just seems like a lot... then again I've done the same things with a few of my characters, so I shouldn't talk. xD
Anyway, it really is a GREAT book so far! I'm about half-way through it right now. D just gained control over the 'three sisters.'

WHORE! THERE YOU ARE!
And yes, I'm loving it too.
I can't wait until I reach the third book! Then it will be... FOOTSIE TIME!
The third book is what the blood lust movie is based off of, correct?
And reading this book is making me want to return to the vampire RP idea...

I LOVE THIS SERIES SO FREAKING MUCH. Need to get started on Book 3, considering I've been mucking around too long doing nothing (Pokeymans, Fire Emblem).
I'm also interested in reading Kikuchi's other works, as well. *drool*
I'm a big fan of the world of Vampire Hunter D, and D himself~ I mean, seriously. Now, this is a vampire series people should sink their teeth into! Mwahahaha, see what I did thar?
I'm still waiting for my friend to give me the first book back. I have a sneaking suspicion she didn't read it, though. ;_;
I mean, how can you not read this series?! It'll unbrain-bleachify my mind, since I just ate some Burger King food and the cups and fry containers are all Twilightified and UGH.
(I'm thinking about drawing a hot pink mustache on the creepy zombie-sparkle-thing on my cup, though!)

I do want to read bloodlust though! I loved the movie...
I think it was mainly the translation I read that made it... meh. Translation can ruin a good story.

Oh I agree. Ive had plenty of bad translations, both in anime and manga, and Im just sitting there getting less and less interested in whatever I happened to be watching/reading.
There was one time someone did a terrible translation of an FMA: Brotherhood episode, one of the later ones, and I just stopped watching it because it was so bad and I lost interest, even though I really wanted to see what happened that episode.

There is this movie called Dororo. It's amazing. The first time I saw it on TV it had subtitles that were well translated. I bought the movie off amazon and the subtitles were in broken English and there were a lot of misspells! I was MANGRY! D:<

Ah, Vampire Hunter D, gotta love that gothic vampire goodness. I can't remember which movie it was that I watched, it was the one where he fought some vampire queen while another vampire took off in a rocket to the moon. But yeah, I hear ya on the bad translating jobs. Main reason why I stick to fan translations because 90% of the time, they will be more accurate and stick closer to the original.
