So! I can't be the only one here who's all about stand-up, right? A few of my favorites: (with icons because I didn't want to make it just text and three is a nice number) x x George Carlin. "A house is just a place to keep your stuff while you go out and get more stuff." x x Margaret Cho. "You'd think that by now, Condelezza Rice would have told him... 'Foo, it's NOO-CLEE-AR!'" x x Demetri Martin. "It's funny the way finger puppets sounds okay as a noun..." x x Eddie Izzard. "But Pavlov never published his cat results, did he? Day one rang bell, cat fucked off. Day two rang bell cat answered door. Day three went to ring bell but cat had stolen batteries. Day four new batteries, but cat put his paw on bell so it only made a 'thunk' noise. Then cat rang his own bell! I ate food..." x x Emo Phillips. "When I was a child I was told 'Emo, don't go near that cellar door'. But one day I saw it open a crack, and had to know what was on the other side if it killed me. So I pushed the door open and saw wondrous things... like trees and grass and sunlight..."

I can't believe I forgot this guy: x x Jim Gaffigan. "My wife always wants me to go to confessional - don't get me wrong, it's not as if I don't ENJOY lying to a holy man." Post any others you know about! Or quotes, quotes are fun. Demetri Martin and Margaret Cho are tied in second. George Carlin is my #1 favorite.

Ooh I have friends who are fans of Russell Brand... I actually haven't heard any of his stuff yet.
Lewis Black is awesome! I've heard some Ralphie May stuff, but not much...
Eddie Izzard is underrated. I suggest everyone look them up. Especially if you like British drag queens. (I dunno if he's technically a drag queen; he calls himself a male tomboy or a male lesbian. "Running jumping climbing trees, putting on makeup while you're up there...")

Is Jeff Dunham considered a stand-up comedian?

I'd consider Jeff Dunham a stand up comedian, yes. He stands up and he... comedes...
I've heard some Chelsea Handler stuff that's pretty good and I think a few Kathy Griffin clips here and there (not much).

JOAN RIVERS FOR THE WIN. =D Hell, I like all the comics that have been listed on here...I'm a big stand-up fan. Anyone like Greg Giraldo? He's on the Comedy Central Roasts a lot...but GOD, he is so much funnier as a stand-up comedian, not an insult comic. I also like: John Oliver Eugene Mirman Sarah Silverman And many many MANY others

Greg Giraldo and Sarah Silverman are awesome! Heard of John Oliver but haven't seen much of his stuff... (is he on The Daily Show, by any chance?) and I may or may not have seen Eugene Mirman... (I recognize his name at least).
