Soo I dunno how many people have heard of it, but here at UCSC, our most well-known tradition is First Rain. Basically, the evening of the first rain (like legit rain, not just sprinkles), a group of people runs through the campus naked. Usually it's in the rain, but today the rain stopped soon before the actual run. I didn't run, but I stood outside my building to watch. Little did I know that the First Rain Run ends right in front of my building in the upper quad. And UCSC is a preeetty big campus, so we only got the runners who made it all the way (aka the athletes ). It was fun and interesting to watch. Also a lot of the people were drunk or ran while they were smoking (and not cigarettes either). The CSO (security) was standing right there in the quad, and all she was doing was making sure nobody stood in the middle of the quad so that nobody would get trampled. The faculty doesn't care that people run around naked, their attitude is "if you get sick, it's your own fault". I love college. Any other wacky college traditions you guys have witnessed/heard of? Pranks and the like count too.

We have a spirit week called "Black Cat Week" where all of the classes compete against each other. Well, one night the seniors came marching through the freshman dorms completely naked. It was hysterical and disturbing at the same time.
There's also a tradition where if someone gets engaged, her friends throw her into some pond... I dunno. Nothing too exciting over here.

How do the classes complete against each other? Pranks? And is there no dressing up as black cats or anything remotely black cat related? Other than the First Rain, the only other UCSC tradition that I know of is painting the sea lion statue yellow. Our mascot is the banana slug, but the statue is there from the time that the administration tried to change it to the sea lion. :/

I don't know about any college traditions, but UCLA and USC are apparently mortal enemies. I mean, our sports shirts even say "BEAT SC" on them. We also apparently have had a sort of prank war in the past between UCLA and USC, with the pranks steadily becoming even more insane in scale. Will go into detail if requested, but otherwise it would be too long to type out.

Well, back in the day, the classes would compete in order to win a chance to have an actual black cat live in their dorm for a week or so. So yeah, there are pranks, decorations, parties, dances, songs, etc. If I hadn't been so confused about the whole thing it might've been more fun lol.

Double Post, yayz!
Sooo we had a College Night tonight... kinda crap. The food was good but they promised free palm reading. Stood in line for 20 minutes and they cut off the line in front of me. Walked to the front of the line to eavesdrop on her palm reading... it all sounded like stuff I knew how to do. Long life line = long life. Duh. # marks on the side of your hand under your pinky = number of major relationships in your life. Duh. Plus half of what she said was personality traits (I know I'm stubborn and I know I get pissed off easily, what else is new?).

Well yeah, that's how fortune-telling and crap like that works. They're just vague enough that they have a chance of getting it right. Why do I get a sudden urge to look at my palm now? Must... not... look... AAARRRRGGGGHHH.....

LOL
That definitely made me look at the marks on the side of my hand under my pinky... but I really couldn't tell... there were a lot of lines, and I'm sure they weren't major relationships lol...

LOL You know the mark that your pinky bends at? It should be right below that. If your heart line goes to the side of your hand, they're above that. If you make a fist the lines are easier to see.

Then, if I am reading correctly, it seems I'll have three major relationships....
I desperately hope they're long ones D:

Does it make a difference if two are spaced closer together and the third one is spaced farther away from the other two?
